Start Again!

  "I wanna start again", the young woman said. She hated what she had become, the opposite of what she ever dreamed to be. She was overtaken by her passions and addiction to being in love, thus falling into the wrong hands of all kinds of unbecoming relationships. She’d tell herself she was using them all, but deep down, she was alone.

Life had dealt her with a raw deal, in a sense, “stepped” on her, for sure. She said she wanted to start again but she’d constantly resort to the same mistakes. Always attracted to toxic friends and personal relations, consequently to the ‘fun’ they offered. Music helped her forget, filling her every minute of the day with some kind of emotion from behind the scenes.

That way, she wouldn’t have to think about her life so much. But there were always those times, always those moments she felt alone, she wanted another life. ‘What is wrong with her?’ People ask incessantly. They can’t understand her. They think it’s just a matter of stopping the wrong, but is it?

Jesus didn’t think so. Here’s what He said: “If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.” Mat 5.29 According to Him, before putting an end to an incorrect course of action, you need to avoid it altogether. Surely you won’t pluck out your eye, but you can certainly get rid of those friends, cancel that Facebook account, change your phone number, discard that iPod, and throw away everything that links you to that kind of life you say you hate. The question is, do you really want to start again? If you can’t do the above, you already know the answer to that.
